SIS Plotter Tool

About the SIS plotter

The Sona Index Spectroscopy Plotter (SISP) is an application designed to evaluate the science space an instrument occupies. SISP generates scatterplot matrices which compares the specifications and characteristics of instruments from our database. These plots can be used to evaluate an instruments applications and capabilities in comparison to other instruments. Blanks or empty spaces found in the plots can be interpreted as possible instrument configurations that do not currently exist (excluding specifications that are inherently related), which can point towards possible new science. SISP can also be used to analyze the trends in space instrument developments over time. Another application of SISP is as a metric to evaluate voids in instrument capabilities, which can prove useful in project proposal evaluations and decisions.
